True Blue Communications Blog

Last week, I distributed the first issue of my company's new monthly electronic-newsletter, called True Blue Talk. I e-mailed it out to my contacts and I also shared the link to the newsletter on Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin. Within two days, I had about six people contact me to ask about meeting with me to talk about their public relations and marketing needs.
In my business, six leads in two days is pretty good. Now, I'm not sharing this with you to toot my own horn, but the point I'm trying to illustrate is that there can be a lot of value in company e-newsletters. For anyone considering starting an e-newsletter for their company, here are few benefits that it brings:
Number one, it allows your company to stay in regular touch with your contacts and your connections, and also helps you to stay top-of-mind with those people that you want to continuously engage.
Number two, an e-newsletter is the perfect opportunity to position your company or yourself as an expert in that field. So, hopefully, your readers will see that you know what you're talking about and, when they have a need in that field, they'll know to contact you.
Number three, electronic-newsletters are extremely affordable to produce. Unlike their paper counterparts, there's no printing costs or mailing costs associated with producing and distributing them.
Number four, electronic-newsletters are much easier to share than a paper printed newsletter. You can share e-newsletters on your website, you can share them via social media sites, and it's much easier for your recipients to forward e-newsletters to their friends and they can then subscribe if they choose to do so; and that helps you grow your database, as well.
And, lastly, electronic-newsletters allow you to see metrics. So, you can tell who's opening the e-mail and how many people have opened your e-mail. You can even see who's clicking on which links and on which articles in your newsletter so that you can gauge interest, determine what your audience is more interested in, and it can help you develop content for future issues of your newsletter.
Those are just a few of the benefits that an e-newsletter can bring for company. If you have others to share, please feel free to do so in the comments boxes below. And, also, if you haven't done so already, please consider subscribing to the TrueBlueCommunications.com video blog or to the TrueBlueComm channel on YouTube, because in a future blog post I'll be talking about some actionable tips and things to think about when producing a company e-newsletter. Thanks so much for watching.
